Tips on employment offered

CEBU, Philippines - Employment coaching sessions are being offered in different public high schools in Mandaue City for graduating high school students who have no plans of pursuing a college education because of poverty.

Coaching is conducted by the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the city government in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA).

A session includes a lecture from PESO on availability of work, labor standards from DOLE, and illegal recruitment from POEA.

The first coaching session was conducted by PESO chief Mosulini Suliva at the open court of the Canduman National High school before 374 graduating students including 53 from the Night High School.

Sessions are done before regular classes are to begin.

Dr. Mercy Demoral, principal of the Canduman National High School, said students who are still under aged and cannot work yet can attend free classes on technical skills at the Mandaue City College. - THE FREEMAN
