Talisay SP secretary back after suspension
CEBU, Philippines - After serving his nine-month suspension, Talisay City Sangguniang Panlungsod Secretary Emigdio Enjambre Jr. has returned to city hall with an assurance that he will still continue to fight his case.
“I still have a pending motion for reconsideration. I hope that will be decided the soonest possible time,” said Enjambre in an interview.
Enjambre, who was back since March 1, said if the Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas would lower his penalty even to a month, he would still fight for the dismissal of his case, since he believes that he is not guilty of the charge.
Enjambre still continues to deny that Loreto Powao’s charge against him is purely “personal,” thereby it should not affect his being in public office.
Powao, owner of a machine shop in barangay Tabunok, filed administrative charges against Enjambre for grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a public employee before the Visayas Ombudsman in relation to the incident last March 13, 2009 when Enjambre allegedly threatened to close his shop or sue him.
The SP secretary might have already spent the nine-month suspension, but he is confident the anti-graft court, despite the delay, would favor his pending motion.
And if it does happen, Enjambre could expect a back pay equal to nine months of work. - THE FREEMAN
