CEBU, Philippines - A security guard is now detained at the Minglanilla police stockade for shooting a 16-year-old boy who he alleged stole broiler chicks from a farm in barangay Calajoan where he was detailed Sunday afternoon.
Jeffrey Samorines, 20, a native of Negros Occidental and temporarily residing in barangay Tungkop, said he did not mean to shoot the victim.
The boy, who sustained a gunshot wound in his rear was taken to the Minglanilla District Hospital and then transferred to the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for an operation.
Samorines told PO2 Hazel Tuazon, Women and Children Protection Desk officer, he was guarding the Twin Tower farm in sitio Kalubihan, Calajoan when he saw Sanchez inside the farm.
Samorines is under the King David Security and Investigation Agency based in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
Tuazon said Sanchez had allegedly taken a few broiler chicks from the farm when caught by Samorines.
Without warning, the security guard shot him once with a caliber .22 rifle.
“Wa siya (guard) kabantay asa agi basta nasakpan na niya nga nagda og sako unya naay sulod piso,” Tuazon said.
Samorines surrendered to the police and turned over his loaded rifle and caliber .38 revolver.
The police are waiting for the boy’s family to appear for the filing of attempted homicide in relation to RA 7610.
