Liloan launches eGwen program

CEBU, Philippines - The municipal government of Liloan yesterday launched the Expanded Green and Wholesome Environment that Nurtures (eGWEN).

Liloan Municipal Mayor Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco who led the launching of the eGWEN program.

At the same time, the search for the Most eGWEN Response Schools, Barangays, and Puroks was also launched.

These also included the Usa ka Litrong Kahayag (Run to Light Program), Adopt-a- Purok Program and Rain Water Harvesting Program.

This year’s theme of the fourth year eGWEN launching is “Doing Unlimited Kindness to the Environment, for God, Country, People and for the Incoming Generation.

According to Mayor Duke Frasco, the people in the different puroks now realize the importance of the program.

“Nakita nako ang matag usa kanato diha sa matag purok nga nagpasakit gayud aron lang gayud mapakita nato ang kalimpyo ug kaanindot sa atong matag purok ug ako nakasaksi gayod sa inyong mga binuhatan,” Frasco said.

The mayor said the municipal government has allocated funds for the implementation of the program this year.

Prizes will be given to barangays and puroks that are adjudged best implementor of the eGWEN program.

Vice Mayor Lucelito Pilapil said the members of the Sangguniang Bayan fully supports the program. 

Barangay San Vicente headed by captain Danilo Fuentes was adjudged as best performing barangay.  (FREEMAN)
