Mandaue eyes successor to college administrator

CEBU, Philippines - The deadline for the submission of applications for the college administrator position in the Mandaue City College is next week.

Last month, the city government announced the opening of the position in view of current college administrator Dr. Susana Cabahug’s exit.

The search for a college administrator was launched after the Civil Service Commission (CSC) denied the city’s motion for reconsideration which seeks Dr. Susana Cabahug’s continuance in office.

Cabahug was appointed to the post by former acting mayor Amadeo Seno after the city lost its trust and confidence in the school’s first president, Dr. Paulus Cañete, who is currently administering a separate school but with the same name.

For lack of a replacement, Cabahug remains in the position since 2007.

City administrator James Abadia during a press conference said the city prefers to hire a true Mandaue resident.

Abadia said Dr. Leo Acebar, the assistant college administrator for Academic affairs as Cabahug’s possible replacement.

However, Cabahug said only about six applicants are vying for the position and only one is a Mandaue City resident.

The Search committee that interviews applicants might come up with a replacement before the opening of the first semester this year. (FREEMAN)
