Salesgirl dies in road mishap

CEBU, Philippines - A salesgirl who worked in one of the department stores in Lapu-Lapu City died after getting hit by a van while on her way home with her boyfriend yesterday dawn in barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City.

Myla Mundo, 20, single, who lived in a rented room at sitio Seabreeze in barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City was thrown several meters away due to the impact.

The Toyota Hi-Ace Grandia van was driven by Efren Dejito, a resident of barangay Mactan.

The police traffic division said both Mundo and her boyfriend Kenny Baratas had just come from a party when the accident happened.

At around 1:50 a.m., Mundo got off the multicab ahead of her boyfriend.

She then crossed the street and might not have noticed the approaching van, which was loaded with passengers, and was on its way to a resort in barangay Mactan.

Mundo was immediately taken to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital were physicians tried for almost two hours to revive her but to no avail.

Mundo died past 4 a.m. yesterday morning. (FREEMAN)
