Consolacion gives recognition to outstanding firms, individuals
CEBU, Philippines - The municipal government of Consolacion last Saturday awarded residents who have made their marks in different fields of endeavor as well as civic organizations and business establishments that contribute to the development of the town.
The Bulawanong Ani awarding ceremony was one of the activities lined up leading to the town’s celebration of its 92nd founding anniversary known as “Adlaw sa Consolacion” today.
Cebu Vice Governor Agnes Magpale who attended the awarding ceremony lauded the administration of Mayor Teresa Alegado for spearheading the event.
According to Magpale, it is just proper to recognize individuals and organizations that bring honor to the town especially those occupying high positions in private and public office.
Alegado, on the other hand, said the “Bulawanong Ani Awards” is a tradition that was started by her father, the late Consolacion Mayor Hilarion Pepito Sr.
She said that in the past only a few families sent their children to college. It then became her father’s thrust at the time to encourage residents in Consolacion to reach their full potential through education.
“Indeed today majority of our town folks are successful in their respective fields of practice and have given much pride and honor to our beloved town Consolacion,” Alegado said.
Alegado also said that aside from recognizing professionals, there are also people who in their own capacity have given their share in achieving the town’s goals towards progress.
“I cannot fit into these few minutes the pride and joy of seeing that my father’s vision has come to fruition,” she said.
Vice Mayor Aurelio Damole, on the other hand, said the members of the municipal council fully support the leadership of Mayor Alegado in recognizing the people who bring honor to Consolacion.
The vice mayor said there are also individuals residing outside the town but contribute to the town’s development as well support projects.
