2 establishments fined for garbage

CEBU, Philippines - Two establishments in Barangay Basak, Mandaue City were issued citation tickets after they were caught throwing their garbage on the road.

The Solid Waste Enforcement Team led by Placido Jerusalem Jr. issued the tickets to a branch of Tinong’s Bakery and Mad Comedy Resto Bar. The team was able to trace the garbage to the two establishments after several copies of receipts issued by them were found with the garbage.

The citation tickets were issued by virtue of City Ordinance NO. 10-2006-372 or the Ecological and Solid Waste Management Ordinance.

The two establishments have violated Section 1.A of the ordinance that prohibits the “throwing, dumping, discharging, pouring out, unloading, spilling out waste, refuse or garbage whether solid or liquid in any vacant lot, yards, roads, streets, canals, rivers, creeks, underground drainage system and other public places.”

The establishments will be fined P500. A case will be filed against them if they fail to pay the fine within 72 hours.
