Robber stabs taxi driver

CEBU, Philippines - A taxi driver was stabbed after fighting off a passenger who tried to rob him at knifepoint yesterday dawn in sitio Kalmar, barangay Lawaan I, Talisay City.

Angel Gapate, 46, a resident of M.J. Cuenco Avenue, Cebu City sustained several stab wounds on the body, and was taken to the Talisay District Hospital but later transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City, where he is recuperating.

Witnesses described the robber, who fled immediately, as fair complexioned and stands 5’7" high. (FREEMAN)
