Gun seized from 24-year-old man in Tanke, Talisay

CEBU, Philippines - A 24-year-old man who had a gun tucked in his waist was arrested Thursday night by the police at a checkpoint in barangay Tanke, Talisay City.

Seized from Roy Buliag of sitio Malipayon, Lower Torre, barangay Inayawan, Cebu City was a .38 caliber pistol with three bullets.

PO1 Edwin Campomanes, PO1 Ben Jaime Barrientos, PO1 Arnold Ator, PO1 Sidney Alisoso, PO1 Japeth Belleza, and PO1 Jun Ernie Camero, said Buliag was traveling that night on a black Suzuki Smash motorcycle (TP-7TGQ-3900) with friends Noel delos Reyes of barangay Banilad, Cebu City and Sualdo Catipay Maque of sitio Torre, Inayawan.

Police said the purpose of stopping them was to check whether their motorcycle was supported by proper documents.

Buliag allegedly attempted to escape but was not fast enough to outsmart policemen manning the checkpoint.

Campomanes said Buliag failed to present documents for his handgun.

He is detained at the Talisay City Police Station pending the filing of a criminal case against him.
