- Flor Z. Perolina -

CEBU, Philippines - The Mandaue City government and the Toyo University of Tokyo, Japan have inked a memorandum of agreement for a Public Partnership Program during a simple ceremony yesterday afternoon at the Cebu International Convention Center.

Both entities agreed that, upon the request of the Mandaue City government, a team from the university will visit the city to observe and evaluate the possibilities of economic development and the possible applications of PPP in the city and its nearby areas.

The memorandum was signed yesterday by Mayor Jonas Cortes and Professor Sam Tabuchi, team leader of the Toyo University, states that the university will study the global economic development of the city wherein the team will send representatives to the city on February 12 to observe.

The city government agreed to provide all required documents and materials for the study.

The city will also arrange for all local activities, visits, interviews, and venues of meetings as Mandaue’s business sector will shoulder all the expenses, airfare, local transporation, and accommodations.

Cortes in a separate interview yesterday said the result of the study will be used as a guideline on how to achieve the city’s mission and vision.

Tabuchi said their university has already made an economic development study in the province of Butuan and in Malaysia. (FREEMAN)
