CEBU, Philippines - A Mandaue City councilor seeks benefits for all barangay health workers.

Councilor Emmarie “Lolypop” Ouano-Dizon has drafted an ordinance that will grant separation, disability, and death benefits to all qualified barangay health workers in the barangay.

In her draft, Ouano-Dizon stipulates guidelines for which barangay health workers could avail of such benefits.

Barangay health workers who have served the barangay for six years and above shall be entitled to P2,000 for every year of service and for those who have served the barangay below six years are entitled to P1,000 per year of service, and a fraction of six months will be equivalent to one year.

A barangay health worker who sustains injury or gets sick which results to his disability shall be entitled also to P2,000 per year of service and for six years and above, and P1,000 for workers who had served below six years.

A barangay health worker shall also be entitled to a P2,500 medical assistance while burial assistance shall also be extended to the family of the qualified barangay health worker provided that she had served the barangay for at least one year.
