CEBU, Philippines - Police will file additional charges against an arrested robbery suspect for hiding his true identity.
Theft and Robbery Section chief P/Insp. Ramil Morpos yesterday said the suspect lied when he said his name was Mark Dela Cruz.
The police only knew about his real name when his wife came to the Mandaue City Police Office yesterday morning looking for a man named “Marlon.”
Morpos said the man’s real name is Marlon Andrino, 34, married, of barangay Magay, Compostela town and not Danao City.
Morpos said the police also learned that the Suzuki Smash motorcycle which Andrino and his cohort Junie Caraat, who was killed by the police in a shoot-out during a chase Thursday evening, was taken from one Arnel Ambos last December 9 at dawn.
Ambos said he had driven his live-in partner to her workplace at the IT Park that day and on his way home, Andrino’s group blocked his path and took his motorcycle.
Morpos said police recovered a stolen motorcycle owned by a certain Shiela May Antolihao. But suspect Harold Balbero, a member of the Andirino group, escaped.
The TRS chief said Andrino’s wife had alleged that her husband had been stealing cars and motorcycles since 2009. His arrest last Thursday was his first.
Andrino faces a robbery case with physical injury for grabbing the bag of Aprille Decierdo, a cashier of Cebu Home Builders, who was walking home together with her co-employees when Andrino and Caraat grabbed her bag and stabbed her.
Police responded and engaged the criminals in a gunfight.
Caraat died from a bullet wound on the head.
