CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City council’s Committee on Public Works And Infrastructure has recommended for approval the proposed construction of the Colon-Cebu 138 KV transmission project of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP).
The project is seen to augment the power supply and ensure a more reliable power delivery system in Cebu, said the committee report.
The committee, headed by Councilor Rodi Cabigas, convened last October, discussed the merits of the proposal.
Cabigas said it was agreed that the NGCP be required to submit “some pertinent documents” to help enlighten the committee about the project.
Last October 27, the NGCP filed in the office of Vice Mayor Alan Bucao these pertinent documents, which were then forwarded to Cabigas’ office.
Cabigas last November 22 endorsed the documents to the office of the city engineer for evaluation and recommendation.
Last December 13, city engineer Audie Bacasmas submitted their letter of recommendation to Cabigas favoring the project.
Cabigas said the project is intended to accommodate the transfer of the 246 megawatt supply of Cebu Energy Development Corp. (CEDC) and KEPCO’s 200 MW to the substations in Metro Cebu.
Cabigas said the proposed project will still be deliberated by the council next week. (FREEMAN)
