Subdivision worker "shoots" resident

CEBU, Philippines - A resident of Pacific Grand Villa Subdivision in sitio Suba-Masulog in barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City is fighting for her life in a hospital after being shot by the subdivision’s collector past 9 o’clock Friday.

Police said Randy Ymborong, legal age also a resident of the subdivision, shot Rose Ann Lapas, 39, married, a resident of the same place.

The Lapu-Lapu City Police Office said Lapas, who drove a car, had just fetched her 20-year-old son from school and was on her way home.

Police said Lapas decided to enter the subdivision through another gate because the road leading to the main gate was in bad condition.

At the back of the subdivision, mother and son found the gate closed. Lapas asked her son to get off and tell the guard to let them through.

But the guard won’t open the gate for them because the car didn’t have a sticker-gate pass that would allow them to get into the subdivision.

The son pleaded his case but the guard was unwavering and soon the two allegedly quarreled, police said.

Lapas got off her car allegedly to pacify the two men.

As she was approaching her son, Ymborong suddenly appeared, grabbed the guard’s shotgun, and shot Lapas, hitting her on her breast, police said.

Ymborong and the guard fled from the crime scene before policemen arrived.

Witnesses said the altercation between Lapas’ son and the security guard and the alleged constant blowing of the car horns could have provoked Ymborong to commit the alleged crime. (FREEMAN)
