Talisay detention center inmates to render Sinulog dance Jan. 13

-

CEBU, Philippines - In view of the celebration of the feast of the Sr. Sto. Niño, inmates at the Talisay City Rehabilitation and Detention Center (TCRDC) will render a Sinulog dance to the Holy Child on January 13.

Jail warden Chief Inspector Renante Rubio said most of the inmates and personnel at the TCRDC are devotees of the Child Jesus, and that a small shrine was built in His honor.

The other day, the inmates gathered for the start of the nine-day novena to the Sto. Niño.

It is also within these days when the participating inmates will prepare for the major day, as the TCRDC has made the gathering a competition.              Six contingents, each having 20-30 members, will compete in the pre-interpretation dance category, said Rubio.

Rubio said prizes will consist of grocery items, which can be used by the inmates themselves.

He said they are also working out to add cash prizes for the three major winners: first, second, and third.  (FREEMAN)
