Fire destroys two houses

CEBU, Philippines - Fire destroyed two houses and damaged two others on New Year’s Day in sitio Puwa, barangay San Isidro, Talisay City.

The city’s fire department placed the damage at P75,000.

It was over in two minutes from the time firefighters arrived on the scene, SFO2 Felipe Abarquez said.

The totally damaged houses were owned by Gerondia Baclay and Fernando Cabaral, while the partially damaged ones were under the names of Judith Manondo and Erlinda Florendo.

Abarquez said the fire originated from Baclay’s house.

Baclay’s neighbors said they heard explosions before fire covered the houses.

Abarquez said the fire was caused by faulty electrical wiring.

Baclay, whose house was partly made of light materials and concrete, was out of the house when the fire struck. The other houses were also made of light materials.

No death or injuries were reported. – (FREEMAN)
