CEBU, Philippines - A jail officer of the Talisay City Detention and Rehabilitation Center (TCDRC) has been accused of raping the common-law wife of an inmate.
Jail warden Renante Rubio said the incident reportedly happened sometime in November last year, somewhere in Cebu City.
ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol Central Visayas reported that the 25-year-old woman said that prior to the incident the jail officer allegedly told her that her husband had a letter for her.
She said the jail officer allegedly told her that they meet somewhere where he could hand her the letter.
But the woman said the jail officer allegedly took her to a cemetery in Cebu City where he allegedly raped her.
The two had reportedly known each other at the TCDRC where the woman would often come to visit her husband.
The woman’s husband was jailed in 2011 for alleged possession of illegal drugs and robbery.
Meanwhile, Rubio said when the woman approached him in early November to report the alleged rape, he immediately called for an investigation.
On November 26, Rubio said he relieved the jail officer from his post while the investigation was on going. (FREEMAN)
