Mandaue to focus more on infra projects this year

- Flor Z. Perolina -

CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes wishes to focus more on infrastructures next year.

Cortes in an interview with reporters said he wants to launch this year “My Mandaue,” a program that would inspire a sense of belongingness.

Cortes said the 2012 budget shows Mandaue is one of the local governments that has allotted a budget for more lot acquisitions so the city can put up more classrooms, roads, and drainage systems.

For the city to come-up with such projects, the mayor hopes to strengthen the private-public partnership (PPP).

He said that with the help of the private entities through their corporate social responsibility, more classrooms had been built in the city in 2011, as education is also one of the thrusts of his administration.

Cortes also wants to showcase the installation and rehabilitation of drainage systems, concrete pavements, the clearing of sidewalks.

A flood control system will also be in place this year with the purchase of additional suction pumps. (FREEMAN)
