Winners in Dagitabnon festival take home cash

CEBU, Philippines - The Tribu Pundok Dagitabnon bagged Friday the championship trophy in the 4th Dagitab Festival’s ritual showdown held in the St. Francis de Asisi Park, City of Naga.

The group, composed of students from Naga National High School, won P25,000 and a trophy.

Tribu Hiniusang Pamilya (Uling National High School) placed second and Tribu Pundok Pangdananon (DECMNHS) was third in the same category.

Each received P20,000 and P15,000 and a trophy.

Tribung Hiniusang Pamilya also won second honors in the street dancing competition.

Tribu Hugpong Balironganon of Balirong National High School emerged champion in the street dancing competition.

They also bagged the best in costume award. Tribu Silaw Cultural Dance Troupe (Professional Academy of the Phils.) won the third prize.

The Dagitab Festival, which started in 2007, is a public celebration of the Christmas season.

All performers last Friday night were garbed in unique blinking festival outfits.

The event was started by flying 100 sky lanterns and capped by an eight-minute fireworks display.
