Lapu-Lapu SK gets kudos for its anti-human traffic scheme
CEBU, Philippines - The International Justice Mission in Cebu has lauded the Sangguniang Kabataan in Lapu-Lapu City for taking the initiative to educate residents on the ways to stop human trafficking.
Lawyer Samson Inocencio, IJM field director based in Cebu said the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation in Lapu-Lapu City sponsors forums and meetings related to human trafficking issues.
The International Justice Mission assists the Philippine National Police and the Department of Justice in the campaign against cyber sex and human trafficking.
After operators of cyber sex operators in Cordova were arrested, authorities heard reports that some cyber sex operators have moved to Lapu-Lapu City, prompting Mayor Paz Radaza to advice the police to be vigilant at all times.
Lapu-Lapu City Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Anthony Obenza said he has directed all precinct commanders to coordinate with barangay officials in keeping watch.
