Cop gives up after shooting man inside bar

CEBU, Philippines - A policeman gave himself up to the Homicide Section of the Lapu-Lapu Police Office after having allegedly shot a seaman outside a restaurant-bar in barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday dawn.

SPO1 Michael Limalima of the Mactan Police station, who wasn’t working that day, and two friends dropped by the Zeus resto-bar.

Inside the resto-bar was Rene Bryan Godinez, 26, single, of barangay Casili, Mandaue City who was drinking with two other seamen.

As alleged, Limalima and Godinez figured in an altercation.“            Godinez went out of the bar, with Limalima allegedly behind him.

Outside, Limalima allegedly shot Godinez, hitting a buttock. He was taken to the Mactan Doctors’ Hospital.

Limalima said he shot Godinez in self-defense. - THE FREEMAN
