Consolacion to release honorarium of health workers at the end of year

CEBU, Philippines - The municipal government of Consolacion will release at the end of this year the honorarium of barangay health workers.

Municipal budget officer Judith Pepito told the Sangguniang Bayan that a health worker receives a lump sum of P3,600 representing his honorarium for the whole year at P300 every month.

During the session, Association of Barangay Councils president Marilou Casul asked why health workers receive more than barangay tanods when their work is riskier.

But Pepito said tanods receive more than health workers.

She said health workers get P200 or P 300 per month while barangay tanods in barangay Tayud, for instance, receive a monthly honorarium of more than P 2,000 while health workers only get P 600.

“That is why, ever since 2009, the municipality has been subsidizing the honorariums of health workers at P300, to be given at the end of the year,” Pepito said. - THE FREEMAN
