CEBU, Philippines - A 54-year-old ex-convict is now in critical condition after being shot allegedly by another ex-convict reportedly because of jealousy Friday night in San Antonio, barangay Linao, Talisay City.
Victoriano Barliso, a resident of the place, sustained a gunshot wound in the left chest. He was rushed to the Talisay City District Hospital, but was later transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
Suspected assailant Boy Restauro, also a resident of the place, was still at large as of this writing.
SPO1 Mikie Espina of the Talisay City Police Station said the police learned that Restauro and Barliso were jailed for murder charges.
Espina said Barliso, whose estranged wife is Restauro’s relative, served 12 years in prison.
Based on the investigation of the police, Restauro reportedly became jealous every time his common-law wife went to Barliso’s house reportedly just to have a chat with him.
Espina said that according to reports, Barliso reportedly had the proclivity to hug anyone especially when drunk, that one time he did it to Restauro’s partner.
Before the incident, Restauro angered by Barliso’s hugging his wife reportedly confronted the latter.
Allegedly, Restauro, which was armed with a gun at that time, shot Barliso and hit him in the chest.
