Ouano won't run for mayor again

- Flor Z. Perolina -

CEBU, Philippines - Former Mandaue city mayor now provincial board member Thadeo Ouano said he is firm on his decision not to run for mayor in Mandaue City.

Ouano in an interview yesterday said he would like to see younger and well-educated people who have new ideas run the city.

“I was already there busa dili na ko gustong mobalik pa. I want history to judge me whether I was a good or a bad mayor. I want my grandchildren to recognize all the good things that I have done for the city wherein I was able to improve the city and uplift the living conditions sa katawhan ug mao nay gusto nakong mabasahan sa akong mga apo parte sa agi sa ilang lolo,” Ouano said .

Ouano said he is proud of his achievements during his nine-year stint as mayor of Mandaue in spite of the black propaganda generated by his former detractors.

He said he sacrificed his time, business, and family just to be able to serve his constituents.

His son Jonkie Ouano who ran for mayor but lost to Mayor Jonas Cortes also sacrificed his US citizenship because of his willingness then to serve the Mandaue residents.

He said his aim then was to make the city globally competitive. - THE FREEMAN
