Dynamite sends fisher to hospital

CEBU, Philippines - A fisherman lost yesterday his left hand and sustained head injuries that exposed his brain when the dynamite he was about to hurl into the water along the seashore in barangay Ibo in Lapu-Lapu City exploded while still gripping it.

Eugene Salbano, 34, married, was on his way home after fishing when he saw a school of fish. He allegedly got out a stick of dynamite and lighted it.

The explosion injured him at the same time sending him into the water.

As of presstime yesterday, Salbano was still fighting for his life at the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
