Talisay issues warning vs. trikes from Cebu City
CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City's traffic division officer has warned Cebu City tricycle drivers to stay out of Talisay or risk being apprehended and fined P6,000.
Tronan Lastimosa, City of Talisay-Traffic Operations and Development Authority (CT-TODA), issued the warning amid the increasing volume of tricycles in Talisay.
Lastimosa said in the last three days of operation, four drivers plying the Bulacao, Cebu City route who were seen picking up passengers in barangay Tabunok were apprehended and fined.
The traffic officer said these drivers were operating "out of line."
A number of these tricycles from Cebu City appear in Tabunok at 10:00 p.m. until dawn, when traffic enforcers have already left their posts.
The CT-TODA started arresting the drivers after their counterparts in Talisay City complained about this practice.
Talisay's records show it has more than 3,000, which means the competition is already stiff among drivers themselves.
