CEBU, Philippines - The head wound that required six stitches was the last straw for a battered wife who had to put up with her violent husband for six years in barangay Centro, Mandaue City.
After getting struck on the head with a stool by her jobless live-in partner Wilfredo Himongala, 33, at the height of an argument yesterday morning in their home, Kimberly Cabahug, 24, who works as an encoder at the Mandaue City Police Office, finally severed her relationship with him.
Cabahug claimed Himongala had been battering her for the past six years they have been living together. The couple has two children, aged 4 years old and three years old.
She said Himongala flew into a rage when she nagged him for coming home drunk again yesterday. She also alleged her husband is hooked on drugs.
Cabahug sought police assistance this time when she couldn't anymore bear the pain and sight of blood dripping from her head.
P/Insp. Meche Gabod, head of the Women's Desk, said Cabahug chose to part ways with her husband rather than pursue a case against him. (FREEMAN)
