Mandaue's elderly receive cash aid from nat'l gov't

CEBU, Philippines - Twenty-seven septuagenarians in Mandaue City yesterday morning received P1,500 from the national government's Social Pension Program for septuagenarians.

The program is coursed through regional offices of the DSWD and then through the City Social Welfare Services, the role of which is to identify who the septuagenarians are.

Septuagenarians in the city also receive P2,000 from the local government.

Mandaue gave P1,000 to the elderly last month, the other P1,000 will be given next month.

Mayor Jonas Cortes distributed the money.
