Results of probe of teacher's case sent to regl office

CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City School Division has forwarded the results of its investigation of a School Teacher of the Mactan Air Base Elementary School to the regional office.

City School Division Superintendent Eduardo Ompad informed members of the Lapu-Lapu City council that the division has already conducted a moto propio investigation of School Teacher Marilou Sulabo.

According to Ompad, he ordered the investigation after being informed of the incident involving Sulabo who is being blamed by the parents for the death of their nine-year-old son who drowned at the sea-waters of Marcelo B. Fernan Bridge.

Although, he refused to provide details to the city council of the results of their investigation, but it was forwarded to the regional office.

Ompad said they forwarded to the regional office considering   that the Regional Director Recardeo Borgonia is the disciplinary authority of all the teachers, not only in Lapu-Lapu City but all the teachers of the region.

Although, he admitted that the investigation conducted without the statements of the parents of the victims and the pupils.

When asked by Councilor Eduardo Cuizon, chairman of the City Council committee on education how they expect the investigation when they failed to get the statements of the parents and the pupil.

Ompad assured that the investigation committee can conduct a separate investigation of the matter.

The City Council has passed a resolution requesting Ompad to transfer for the meantime to the Division Office the concerned teacher Sulabo.

For her part, Mayor Paz Radaza wants Sulabo transferred to the school outside Lapu-Lapu City.

The 9-year-old pupil's parents blame Sulabo for their son's death.

As alleged, last October 5. Sulabo sent home Jason James Vidal and two classmates who reported to class without bringing with them excuse letters, they being absent the previous week.

The three boys, instead of going home, went swimming under the Marcelo Fernan Bridge where Vidal drowned.

But Mrs. Sulabo denies the accusations.
