Joavan's latest "victim" submits sworn affidavit
CEBU, Philippines - The man who claims Joavan Fernandez had struck him with a bottle on the head submitted a sworn affidavit Thursday to the Talisay City Police Station.
Regie Aranas, who accused Mayor Socrates Fernandez's son of hitting him a bottle in the head, also filed to the police yesterday the results of his medical examination.
SPO1 Joel Rosales told reporters they were ready to charge Joavan for slight physical injury in the Talisay City Prosecutors Office.
In his affidavit, Aranas said that at 1:30 a.m. of November 8, 2011, he and his female friends, An-an Morello and Angelie Cañasarez were having a drink inside a resto-bar in barangay Tabunok.
After the first two bottles were consumed, they stood up to order some more at the counter, he said.
Aranas said in front of them was Joavan whom he heard ordering a set of liquored drink.
Aranas said he also overheard the person before him telling the cashier that he also wanted a whole fried chicken, but would pay for it later on.
The cashier, however, smiled at Joavan and denied him.
Believing that the person before them was just joking to the cashier, Aranas said he and his friends started laughing.
Moments later, Joavan walked away from the cashier, while Aranas and his friends made their order.
It was on their way back to their table when Joavan approached them and told them:"Unsay problema ninyo bay, wa mo kaila nako?" And before they could utter a word, the mayor's son allegedly struck Aranas on the head with an empty beer bottle.
Aranas said he was injured.
After the incident, Aranas said Joavan and his friends left the area.
Aranas claims to be hiding because of fear of Joavan.
But Superintendent Eddie Recamara, city police chief, said Aranas has to be located before the police can file charges against Joavan. (FREEMAN)
