CEBU, Philippines - Twenty-eight video karera machines seized by the police in Lapu-Lapu City from January to October were destroyed yesterday in front of the city police station.
Leading the destruction of the machines were Mayor Paz Radaza, police chief Senior Supt. Anthony Obenza, Vice Mayor Marcial Ycong, Leo Mercado, president of the Association of Barangay Councils, and city councilors.
"Mao na nga ato gayud nga giawhag ang atong kapolisan nga muhimo gayud sa ilang hingusog nga kampanya batok sa problema sa video karera," Radaza said.
Although video karera machines exist in Olango Island, the mayor said the other types of illegal gambling such as backyard cockfights or "tigbakay" are rampant especially during fiestas. (FREEMAN)
