CEBU, Philippines - Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza was in high spirits yesterday after knowing that members of the Lapu-Lapu Sangguniang Kabataan did not vandalize hotel rooms in Dumaguete City as earlier alleged.
In her regular press conference yesterday, Radaza said she immediately phoned SK Federation president Nicole Balao to inquire about the incident.
She said Balao explained to her the story behind the allegation and the hotel's apologies for the embarrassment the story may have caused the SK chairmen.
" Pagkabasa gayud nako sa balita ako dayon gitawag si Balao kay dili man gud maayo ang imahen sa Lapu-Lapu City sa maong balita," Radaza said.
She said she was happy because the true story came out after the hotel issued an apology.
"Nalipay na lang ta kay mitumaw man gayud ang matuod ug nakita nga dili diay tinuod," said Mayor Radaza.
Radaza said the management of Bethel Guest House in Dumaguete City wrote the SK chairmen to apologize and even extended an invitation to visit the city again.
According to the story, Lapu-Lapu City's SK officials misbehaved in a hotel during a three-day regional SK conference held in Dumaguete City last week.
The same report said agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Dumaguete City went to the hotel to verify reports about guests smoking marijuana in one of the hotel rooms.
Lapu-Lapu City SK Federation chairperson Nicole Balao denied having vandalized their room. (FREEMAN)
