Mandaue police chief won't intercede for officer

CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City Police Office director Sr./Supt. Noel Gillamac will not intercede in behalf of P/Insp. Wilson Abot who was relieved by reason of command responsibility and transferred to the Bogo City police station.

Earlier, three policemen and two officials were relieved from their posts for violating the policy on the wearing of proper uniform and for command responsibility after Police Regional Office -7 director Marcelo Garbo caught them not wearing the prescribed uniform in violation of the “Tamang Bihis” policy of the Philippine National Police.

P/Insp. Wilson Abot, the chief of the Opao police station, was also relieved thanks to command responsibility.

Gillamac said that although Abot is one of the most efficient police officials of MCPO, he will not intervene because he wants all police commissioned officers to learn from this case with regard to their responsibility to their men.

He said that as policemen, they should set an example to the public.

“In fairness to Abot, wa siya magkuwang sa pag-disseminate, unfortunately naa lang sad dyuy mga polis nga hardheaded ug way disiplina,” Gillamac said.

He said policemen should set good examples if they want the trust and respect of the people, and the first thing they should do is respect themselves by wearing the proper uniform.

He also said Abot has accepted his transfer to the Bogo police station. - THE FREEMAN
