Man arrested for stealing clothes

CEBU, Philippines - A man was arrested for allegedly stealing the clothes of a Korean national and his girlfriend while they were swimming Monday evening at a beach in barangy Jubay, Liloan town.

Yang Soo Kim, 31, who resides in Compostela town, and Sheryl Sabay, 21, single, of Consolacion town, had left their clothes on the shore before they went for a swim.

While in the water, they saw a man later identified as Jerry Ayoste, 23, of barangay Sacsac, Consolacion town taking their clothes.

Sabay shouted for help but since no one had responded to her call, she got out of the water, and, in her underwear, chased the thief.

She also informed the management of the resort, which sought police assistance.

The police arrested Ayoste, and seized from him a .38 cal. gun, two bullets, two sticks of rolled marijuana, and the clothes which consisted of 2 pairs of maong pants, a jacket, and a blouse.

Ayoste is detained at the Liloan police station while charges are being prepared.
