Luigi donates to school, sends help to fire victims

CEBU, Philippines - Sixth district Rep. Luis Gabriel Quisumbing turned over P11,000 worth of materials to the Leonard Wood Elementary School in barangay Jagobiao, Mandaue City for the construction of a comfort room for grade one pupils.

Quisumbing said he thought about donating the materials after learning from a grade one teacher that pupils who ask for permission to relieve themselves often fail to return to class.

To solve the problem, Quisumbing said the comfort room will be built inside the classroom.

The school will shoulder the labor costs.

In another development, 25 families have received relief assistance from Quisumbing's office after fire destroyed their shanties along the river bank of Zone 3 in barangay Mantuyong, Mandaue City last Friday afternoon.

Jessielito Perez, the district manager of Quisumbing's district office yesterday said relief goods consisting of rice, canned good, noodles, used clothing, tarpaulins, and blankets were sent to the fire victims.

One of the congressman's scholars was one of the fire victims who lost all her college books to the fire. Quisumbing has guaranteed to buy all her school books and other things.
