KTV bar inspectors admit drinking beer
CEBU, Philippines - Three of the five employees of the City Treasurer's Office of the Mandaue City Hall who were ordered investigated for drinking inside a KTV bar they were supposed to inspect last July have admitted their faults.
The FREEMAN isn't naming the three regular employees before the investigation is finished.
Last July, the men went to Bulldog Music Lounges and KTV to monitor the payment of admission fees in response to city treasurer Regal Oliva's order to inspect KTV bars for purposes of imposing taxes.
In a joint position letter, they claimed that after introducing themselves and stating their purpose to the manager, he led them to a room near the counter where it was quieter.
They alleged that when they were ready to leave, the manager offered each of them a bottle of beer and asked them to drink the beverage since the bottles had already been opened.
Oliva himself saw the men drinking, in violation of an earlier instruction not to accept anything, even water from any establishment that they inspect.
The three men alleged no amount of explanation can help them wiggle out of the situation, although there were no strings attached.
City legal officer Giovanni Tianero will soon release the result of investigation. – (FREEMAN)
