PAL protesters to maintain peace, order at picket lines
CEBU, Philippines - Militant unions that support protesting former employees of the Philippine Air Lines have assured to police their ranks to maintain peace and order.
Eutiquio Bulambot, board member of the Philippine Air Lines Employees Association, said militant unions as well as religious groups are supporting the protesters' cause.
According to Bulambot, Lapu-Lapu City police officials visited the protesters to discuss peace and order.
"Wala mi plano nga maghimo og kagubot gumikan kay ang among tuyo mao man ang pagpaabot sa among mensahe sa dili makiangayon nga gihimo sa PAL," Bulambot said.
Earlier, some police officials expressed their concern about the presence of militant groups and labor unions in the picket lines.
Bulambot said they police their own ranks "ug dili angayan nga mabalaka ang atong kapolisan."
Bulambot, who has been with the airlines for more than 35 years, has refused to accept the package offered to him by the company.
PAL management has adopted the outsourcing scheme for some of its services.
