CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City celebrates today the annual feast of its patroness Santa Teresa de Avila and the Halad Inasal Festival.
And like all religious activities, the event will be started with a Holy Mass at 9:30 a.m. at the Santa Teresa de Avila shrine in barangay Poblacion to be officiated by Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma.
The popular Inasal Festival parade will follow at 1 p.m. which will start at the Cebu South Coastal Road in front of the city hall and which will move towards Dumlog through the San Isidro intersection of the coastal road.
This part of the road will be closed to vehicular traffic.
The parade will end at the Talisay City Central School in barangay Poblacion where a dance showdown of all participants will be held.
City administrator Richel Bacaltos said this year nine contingents will participate in the street dancing category. Eight contingents will come from the public and private schools, and one from the local government unit.
First district Rep. Eduardo Gullas and Governor Gwen Garcia are expected to join the celebration.
