CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City government turned over to the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office a Tourist Police Assistance Center in sitio Buyong in barangay Maribago in Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning.
It cost the city P400,000 to build it.
Mayor Paz Radaza turned over the center to Lapu-Lapu City police director PSr./Supt. Anthony Obenza and his men. Also at the turnover were guest of honor PSr. Supt Josephus Angan, chief of the directorial staff of the Police Regional Office -7.
The center has an office that would welcome local and foreign tourists who may need police assistance as well as a detention cell.
Sitio Buyong attracts a lot of tourists.
Radaza advised the police to be friendly at all times to tourists seeking their help.
The office will be headed by P/Supt. Perceval Sorilla.
Aside from the center, two tourist assistance desks are being put up in the Marigondon.
Eighteen of 22 policemen who have just completed training in Bohol province will be assigned to the center while four others will man the two desks. (FREEMAN)
