Town thanks BFAR for helping marginal fishermen

CEBU, Philippines - Consolacion town Mayor Teresa Alegado has expressed her gratitude to officials of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources for their support to small fishermen in the town.

Alegado said BFAR supervised a four-day seminar and training of marginal fishermen in barangay Tugbungan, Tayud, and Nangka as part of its program to provide technical support.

Alegado said the municipal government with the support of BFAR has implemented livelihood programs for fishermen in the town in a bid to stop them from engaging illegal fishing.

BFAR will also assist the fishermen in marketing their products. - THE FREEMAN
