Mandaue's market body to grant vendors' wishes
CEBU, Philippines - The market authority board is set to grant some of the requests of the market vendors once they transfer to the new Mandaue city public market this November.
Market administrator Moussolini Soliva said the market authority board has approved "in principle" to grant the request of the vendors to lower the rates of their lease rights and extend the number of their lease years from five years to eight years.
Soliva said a two-month moratorium on the payment of their monthly rentals will be granted to stall owners.
This means that to start off their business, stall owners will not have to pay their monthly rentals for the months of November and December.
He said he has also endorsed the proposal to lessen the monthly or daily rentals of the stalls by at least 50% once they transfer to the new public market.
Stall rentals will vary with the space each stall owners will be occupying, ranging from P30 to P50 per day.
He said the market vendors' proposals has been endorsed to the committee on market and abattoir, headed by Councilor Jimmy Lumapas.
At present, the new public market has 1,408 stalls. - THE FREEMAN
