Tricycle fare in Mandaue still P8

- Flor Z. Perolina -

CEBU, Philippines -  City administrator James Abadia yesterday urged commuters to report to city hall tricycle drivers who demand exorbitant fares from passengers.

Abadia yesterday said the newly approved minimum fare for all tricycles plying in Mandaue City is only P8.00.

Abadia’s reaction was sought after commuters complained about some tricycle drivers who demand P10 as minimum fare.

He said if these tricycle drivers have violated indisputably newly amended Ordinance No.12-2011-641 which was approved last August 11, 2011, then their franchises will be revoked.

The newly amended ordinance, authored by Councilor Elstone Dabon, stipulates that from the former minimum P6.50 fare, it is now P8.00.

And for every succeeding kilometer, tricycle drivers are only allowed to collect an additional P1. – (FREEMAN)
