Teachers complete 2-day tech seminar

CEBU, Philippines - More than 50 teachers from private high schools and colleges in Metro Cebu completed a two-day seminar which focused on understanding of the digital age and the advent of technology.

At the seminar were teachers from Cebu, Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu, Talisay cities, and Bohol province.

Elizabeth Saldivar, Region 7-Coordinator of the A Teacher PartyList, said the seminar called "Facilitating Learning and Understanding by Design" was aimed at assisting teachers upgrade their knowledge on information technology.

Saldivar said the training and seminars for teachers in both private and public schools is an on-going program of the A Teacher PartyList represented by Rep. Mariano Piamonte Jr. and Rep. Julieta Cortuna.

Dr. Nenita Habulan, a practicing educational technologist, training program designer, and a learning specialist, has spent her entire career advocating the use of technology for meaningful learning in the academic world.

Habulan said she is preparing a letter address to Department of Education officials regarding the training for private schools.

She also wants to make representations with the Professional Regulatory Commission to offer the program as a requirement before renewal of licenses.
