Man arrested for grabbing policewoman's necklace

CEBU, Philippines - Police arrested a man for snatching a gold necklace from an off-duty policewoman who was taking a walk Wednesday along Albano corner M. Logarta streets in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

SPO2 Rowena Penaflor, 43, temporarily residing in barangay Subangdaku was in her civilian clothes when James Pelayo, 26, of barangay Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu City grabbed her necklace worth P15,000.

If the snatcher was quick, Penaflor was quicker. She grabbed the man's hand and pinned him down on the pavement and then called for backup.

PO1Michael Librado found the necklace and sticks of marijuana in Pelayo's pockets.

The man is now detained while charges are being readied against him. - THE FREEMAN
