Gov't to train marginal fishers in Consolacion

CEBU, Philippines - A ranking official of the Regional Training Office of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resource in Central Visayas will provide training and assistance to marginal fishermen in coastal barangays of Consolacion town.

BFAR-7 Regional Training Director Eduardo Suderio told The Freeman that the Municipal Agriculturist Office in Consolacion town will coordinate with his office for the training of fishermen in barangays Tubungan, Nangka, and Tayud this month.

According to Suderio, aside from providing technical support and training, his office will also provide the initial needs in operating a fishpond for fingerlings and feeds.

It will also help fishermen put up the required area for this purpose.

Suderio said fishermen are being encouraged to be producers as well as teach them to sell their own products in public markets without employing middlemen.

"Tudluan nato ang atong igsoon nga mga mananagat nga ang ilang produkto deretso na ngadto sa merkado ug dili na kinahanglan nga aduna pa'y middleman" said Suderio. - THE FREEMAN
