CEBU, Philippines - Experts sponsored by A Teacher PartyList would soon be visible in Cebu City and neighboring cities and municipalities and other provinces with the aim of introducing livelihood programs to unemployed residents.Speaking last week before the first regional summit on good governance in Lapu-Lapu City, which was attended by barangay captains from provinces in Central Visayas, A Teacher PartyList Rep. Mariano Piamonte, Jr. said he and Liga ng mga Barangay regional chairman Michael Ralota had thought about launching this plan in view of the present economic situation in the country.

The mechanics of the programs are almost ready.

Piamonte said creating livelihood programs, especially for women, is one of the advocacies espoused by A Teacher PartyList.

Piamonte said the program would get its funding from his Priority Development Assistance Fund.

Ralota, on the other hand, welcomed the support of A Teacher PartyList in addressing the problem of unemployment through livelihood projects.

Ralota said those who will avail of the programs will be given certificates from the Technical Education Skills for Development Administration which could be helpful in finding work abroad.

According to Ralota, A Teacher PartyList allocates funds for the construction of school buildings.

Cebu Provincial Federation Presidents of the Association of Barangay Councils Jose Ribomapil Holganza, Jr. expressed his thanks to Piamonte and the A Teacher PartyList for helping Cebu in addressing the shortage of classrooms.

Aside from quality education, Piamonte said the other advocacies of A Teacher PartyList include values formation, environmental education, and poverty alleviation.
