Gov't hospital for Cordova
CEBU, Philippines - Sixth District Rep. Luis Gabriel Quisumbing has filed a bill in Congress which seeks the establishment of a government hospital in Cordova town.
Although the town has its own municipal health office, Quisumbing said there is an urgent need to attend to the medical needs of residents.
Quisumbing recently filed in Congress House Bill No. 5200, or the act to establish a 25-bed hospital in the town which is under the supervision of the Department of Health and will be known as the Cordova Public Hospital.
Once the bill is approved, the hospital will relieve the workload of the personnel of the municipal health office, which, aside from catering to the basic health services of residents, it also serves as a lying clinic for mothers who give birth.
The funding for land acquisition, the construction and operational expenses, hospital equipment, and personnel services of the hospital will be included in the Annual General Appropriations Act.
"The establishment of a public hospital within the municipality is aimed at easing the plight of indigent constituents of the district when seeking affordable and quality medical care. This is envisioned to provide them with a medical facility within accessible distance equipped with the basic life-saving equipment and professional expertise," the bill states.
