Consolacion allots budget for poor residents
CEBU, Philippines - The municipal government of Consolacion allocated close to P1 million last year representing assistance to the Individuals in Crisis Situation.
Mayor Teresa Alegado said the town extended assistance to poor constituents for their hospitalization, medicine, and transportation.
The mayor also said poor constituents have PhilHealth insurance.
"I adhere to this kind of assistance because I know pretty well many out there just leave this world because of inadequacy, precisely why PhilHealth Insurance was distributed to 3,634 recipients and 852 of which was locally funded while the rest were sourced out from the national and the provincial government.
Job orders numbering 129 also were given insurance," Alegado said.
Part of the P750,000 budget would also go to pauper burial assistance, which means beneficiaries would get a free coffin worth P2,000.
Poor residents who have availed of such assistance now total 51.
The town, with the help of barangays, shoulder expenses for funeral services, she said.
