Talisay dad pushes for vigilance vs. cybersex

-

CEBU, Philippines - Following the arrest of an internet operator in barangay Tabunok, a Talisay City Councilor, in a resolution, is urging all barangay captains to continue being vigilant against cybersex.

“Kinahanglan gyud close monitoring kay wa ta kahibawo naa diay daghan pa sa suok-suok,” said City Councilor Danny Caballero.

Caballero commended the Talisay City Police for the arrest of Erwin Mercado, owner of Level-Up Internet Cafe in barangay Tabunok.

In a raid last Friday, police reportedly saw three women inside the cafe’s private cubicles allegedly exposing their breasts to their on-line foreign chatmates.

Last Monday, police charged Mercado for alleged violation of RA 9208 or the “Anti-trafficking in person’s Act.”

Caballero urged barangay officials to remain on the alert for

cybersex dens.

“Mas maayo gyud kung makatabang og monitor ang mga barangay officials kay sila may mas duol ug nakaila sa mga residente. Og naa silay madunggan nga report, pwede silang motawag sa akong opisina para matabangan nato sila sa pagpadangat niini sa kapulisan. Or, modrecho sila sa police para masuta kung unsa ka tinuod ang maong taho,” said Caballero.

Caballero said he filed the resolution, which was approved by the city council last April, after hearing reports that cybersex has been victimizing minors in Metro Cebu.

A Filipino woman reportedly earns at least USD 100  (P4,200) per

session.

“It all boils down to poverty. Pero og pangusgan lang gyud sa gobyerno, kanunayon ang monitoring activities, magpanagana naman ni sila. Hilabi na ron nga naa gyuy gipasakaan og kaso,” he said. (FREEMAN)
